Scott Imbrie

Scott Imbrie is a participant in the Brain/Computer Interface study at the University of Chicago. Scott injured C4, C5, and C6 in a car accident in 1985 and was told he would be a quadriplegic. In this study, Scott has elected to have four electrodes placed on his brain, two electrodes each in the S1 and M1 cortex. Now, he has an opportunity to control a robotic hand and arm with his brain.

UChicago scientist can stimulate his brain, simulating natural sensation on Scott’s fingertips. The data collected from this study is building a better understand of the somatosensory system.
